'Tuesday, early

Monday is officially over as of 14 minutes ago.  Tuesday has now begun.  I figured that if I couldn't sleep I might as well sit in front of the computer, maybe I can bore myself to the point of passing out.

Every once in a while you have to take a deep breath and just reflect on the past and wonder about the future.  Some times the past is easiest to re-visit.  You can embellish your own memories, or make certain ones disappear all together.  Hopefully, you don't make important ones disappear.

I sometimes wonder how much of what I remember about my childhood is actually memories or just thoughts of what I hope it was like.  I know that we didn't have a lot of money.  No biggy, back then those that had pretended like they didn't and those that didn't have pretended like they did.

I do remember most of 3rd grade, why I don't know.  It was the year that I got glasses.  Beautiful fashion statements from the 60's.  Cat eye shape with rhinestones across the top.  I though I was something pretty speacial, until it was time to go to school with them one.  I did not want to go into that classroom for anything.  If I remember correctly, I stood out in the hall in terror.  I couldn't imagine what everyone was going to say.  I don't know if I was the first one in the class to get glasses or not, didn't seem to matter, still didn't want to go in.  It was also the year that while trying to do a back flip, I landed on the small of my back.  Have had problems with it ever since.  Don't try doing it outside on the hard ground.

We were living in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at that time.  Boy, oh boy, when the wind blew just right you could smell the dog food factory from every direction.  The streets were really cool, some of them were actual cobblestone streets.  The window displays for Christmas were just works of art in the blurry 3rd grade eyes and the movie theaters were all done in red velvet drapery.  I'm pretty sure that all of that has changed in the past 40 or so years.  Don't want to go back and visit, don't want to lose those memories.

Now as all that time has passed, my eyes are still blurry, by back still hurts and I still remember what carefree days of childhood were like.  The worst memory ever from then is this one, Down the street from where we lived a house caught on fire and a baby was killed in that fire.  Have been terrified of dying that way ever since.

I guess we all have our phobias about one thing or another.  Terrible when they compound into so many others.  Like small spaces, elevators falling, being drowned or choked to death.  I am a complete mess, it's amazing that I ever leave my house.  Don't seem to have a problem with dying a horrible death in a car though, guess that's good.

Well, now that I have unloaded my memories, thoughts and fears on you all I can go and play some silly game on this machine, hoping that it will put me to sleep.  Shakespeare said it best "To sleep, perchance to dream".

Pleasant dreams all.

March 29, 2010

What is it about Mondays?  They are either really busy or really boring.  This morning already I have made a trip up to the clinic to request Arlen's medical records, stopped and got a bed rail for the twin bed for Lily (she's getting a big girl bed), went to /Duebers and picked up Easter baskets and a few little things to fill them.  The went back to the clinic with the release form and got some past reports to take with to a 2nd opinion consultation.  Made an appointment with an Internal Medicine Dr. for Wednesday in Lester Prairie, my Mondays should not be this busy!  And no my kids don't know about any of this, yet.  If they read this they will and I will explain more on Sunday when they get here.  So please, children, be patient with me, I can only handle one thing at a time lately.

I was laying in bed last night, not sleeping of course, and began reviewing my life.  I just kept thinking about how different it may have been had I gone on to school after high school.  I had always wanted to go into Child Care.  The only problem seemed to be that everyone else did too.  The schools that I checked out that offered this had a 2 year waiting list.  What to do, what to do.  So I applied at Anoka Tech for Medical Secretary, got in  then backed out when I looked at the map and saw how far away it was.  Yep, I was a big stinkin' chicken.  Started waitressing the summer after graduation, then went on to be the receptionis for the Yellow Medicine Family Service Center.  Should have kept that job.  My supervisor asked me to stay when I gave notice that I was getting married and moving to South Carolina.  His exact words were "Why don't you stay and work here and let him go by himself".  As it turns out that is probably what I should have done.  Either way I know that I would still have had my son.

Down in SC I got a few odd jobs, working the catalog dept. at Sears over Christmas, I do not recommend this for anybody.  Of course now everything is different.  Then I landed a part time job with the Myrtle Beach Fire Dept.  working in their office.  What a great job, not a lot to do, watched tv, played poot, answered the phones, gave out the time on the radio, budget time was a little more hectic, but still enjoyed it.  Who wouldn't?  It was me and 33 guys five days a week!  One of the best aspects was that if I needed a week or two off, I would just work that same amount of time full time and then have my time off with pay.  How great, now try finding something like that, impossible.

It is hard to believe that the first 3 months of this year are almost gone.  I swear, the older I get, the faster time goes.  How is that fair?  I would like to enjoy the time I have left and not worry about what to buy for the holidays right away again.  Oh well, I guess it happens to all of us.  Kids don't know how lucky they are.

Have a great day!

Week 10 Friday

Yippee it's Friday!  Don't know why I should be excited about it, everyday lately is like Friday.

Well, they got the new trailer moved in yesterday.  Looks very nice, but it sure made the yard a lot smaller.
It was small to begin with.  Will be interesting to see who they rent it to.  Probably someone with 4 - 5 kids again.  You know, this end of the court used to be really quiet, not too many kids, but boy oh boy has that changed. The worst part is that the parents send all of these little kids (under the age of 5) outside to play with no supervision!  Of course, they play in the street, someday someone is going to get run over and it will be the driver's fault, never the kids or the parents.  Just don't understand it.

Arlen grilled pork chops the other day.  They were so good.  That first grilling in the Spring is always the best.  Kind of like the first sweet corn of the season, always the best.  As of right now we are planning on putting the turkey on the grill for Easter as long as the weather co-operates.  I would also like to do an egg hunt for the 2 little ones.  I thought I had at least one extra week, but nope, Easter is on the 4th, not the  11th.  Will have to get my you know what together this coming week.  That's okay, I really don't mind, and I'll just put it down to old age setting in.  Everyone with the exception of Adam will be here.  He has to work that day, so will make sure to send back lots of leftovers for him.

Planning on having turkey, baked corn, green bean casserole and probably garlic mashed potatoes since we won't have any drippings for gravy.  Still have to come up with a salad.  Also planning on making an Easter bunny cake for desert.  The grocery store here had whole turkeys for 89 cents a pound so picked up a 16# turkey for that day.  Can almost taste it now.  Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

We invited Arlen's folks up for Easter, but doubt that they will make it.  His dad is having some major health problems.  He has diabetes that they can't get under control and now it sounds as though he has blood clots in his legs, so it is hard for him to walk, let alone get out of chairs and vehicles.  It would be nice if they made it, but perfectly understandable if they don't.

Whatever you plans for Easter are, enjoy your time with family, friends and anybody else you run across.
Talk to you on Monday.

Week 19 Thursday

Good Morning All!

Thought that I would get this out of the way for the day, not that there is anything important going on, just feel like doing it now.

Well, they moved our old trailer out yesterday.  Was kind of weird watching it go, lots of memories in that old thing, 20 years worth.  But it's gone, now they are going to move a different one in, should be fun to watch.  Am so glad we got the one we are in now.

The new people in the trailer that would have been to the south of us must have 4 or 5 kids, most of them under the age of 5.  So, their yard is full of toys and noise.  We never would have been able to have our windows open and be able to hear anything inside.

Last Saturday as you all know was the Luepke Cousin Bash.  I got a really good picture of my mom with the 2 great-grandkids.

That's Brandon on the left, my mom and Miss Lily on the right.

It's always nice to be able to get updated photos whenever we can.  Brandon was so good with getting Lily to go to the back of the table and sit there no nice.  Both kids were well behaved that day and made me very proud, not just of them, but also how well their parents are doing in the raising of them.

Guess that will do it for today.  Have a great Thursday, enjoy your job, enjoy the fact that you have a job!

Week 10 Wednesday

I know, I know, I missed Tuesday.  For some reason Tuesdays are just really boring days with nothing to say.  Since it is now Wednesday, we'll see what I come up with.

Found out yesterday that they are going to move our old trailer out today.  Should be interesting to see how they accomplish it.  Be more intersting if with the first tug the whole thing collapses.  It is so old and in such bad shape, I just don't see how they can move it in one piece.  Hoping to get pictures, that way we will always be able to remember what we use to live in and appreciate what we have even more.

I have a little bit of a job problem.  I am waiting to here about one that I really want, and have since found at least one other to apply for.  I'm pretty sure that I'll get the one, but with the possibility of not securing it, I just don't know if I should apply for the other.  Good thing I have a little bit of time to think about it.

Arlen went uptown yesterday and got me a bag of grapefuit and a bag of oranges.  Made some oj out of a couple of them.  Always tastes so much better than the stuff you buy.  Had a 1/2 grapefruit for breakfast already, yummy.  We also had deep fried fish last night for supper, yummy again.  Will probably have the other 1/2 grapefruit for lunch and no idea what to have for supper.  It's a long ways off and lots of time to decide.

We are also trying to decide if we are going to get rid of some of our cats and if so, how many, and which ones.  We have a couple that don't really have anything to do with us, a couple that are fun to play with and a couple that just love us to death.  If it were solely up to me, all but 2 would go, but it isn't just my decision.

So if anyone knows of a good no kill shelter in this area, please let me know.

Week 10 Monday

Such exciting titles I can come up with!  I even amaze myself.

Had a very enjoyable weekend.  Started Friday with Miranda bringing Lily down for her weekend with us, then my mom came down to go to the Luepke Cousin Bash in Paynesville.  She stayed until today and then went home.  Was a lot of fun watching her and Lily interact.  Always fun to have each of them here, and was a great experience having them here at the same time.

We all decided that the next time we go to the Bash thing will be in about 5 years.  They have it every year, but I think it is too often.  Most of them live really close together, so not sure what the big draw for them is.  Probably never will figure it out.  I don't have anything to do with any of my cousins, but it was nice to see the Aunts and Uncles that were there.

We didn't stay for the meal, choosing instead to just come home and have some decent food.  They always go to the Legion next door to the Hotel and have chicken and pizza.  Can have chicken anytime and not a big fan of pizza, so don't feel as we missed anything.

My mom had brought down some fresh perch that my uncle had caught this winter.  Fried that up with some fried potatoes, yummy.  Yesterday I put a turkey breast in the oven with baked potatoes and corn, yummy again.  Love those leftovers.  Cut of the turnkey and put it into a gravy I made from the drippings and will have hot turkey sandwiches for supper.  Will also warm up the fried potatoes and corn and the 1 baked potato that was left to have with it.

Hopefully sometime next week I will have something to report on the job front.  Just waiting to hear back from one.   Don't want to talk about it too much, it seems that the more I talk about something the less likely it is to happen, so you will all just have to wait along with me to see how it turns out.

I forgot to mention that Collin, Amber and Brandon made it to Paynsville on Saturday also.  I don't know if they realize how much it meant to my mom and myself to see them there.  Got lots of 8 year old hug type of things from Brandon, I will take whatever he is willing to give me.  One of the best things about being a grandparent, the kids are never too old to hug you, maybe because none of their friends actually know who you are, doesn't matter, will still take them.  So a great big THANK YOU to my family for being there.

Week 9 Thursday

Okay, today I have a legitimate complaint.  Why is it that when you find a job to apply for, you must be bi-lingual?  Preferably in spansih.  If they are going to come to our country, shouldn't they be the ones that have to be able to communicate with us?  If I were moving to a different country, I sure would do my very best to make myself understood in their native tongue.  I just don't get it.  Anyone else coming from a different country are proud to be here and proud to take the lessons offered to speak English, what makes the Latinos so damn special?

Okay, tirade over.  Just had to get it out of my system.  At least for now.

I was unusually busy this morning, which is why I am doing this now.  I got the following done, dishes, garbage bagged, floors swept and mopped, 2 bathrooms cleaned, 1 bedroom cleaned (the other one just needed to be straightened out), bathroom rugs washed, dried and put back, egg salad for sandwhiches made,  after Days, I took a nap.  Everything took me twice as long to accomplish as I woke up with an extemely sore back.  Could only do a little at a time and then would have to sit down.  Thankfully, my back has straightened out a bit.  Still sore, but manageable.

So, I made it through the movie Julie & Julia.  It was okay, interesting in some parts, boring in others, but I made it.  I don't know that I would tell anyone to rush out and get it, but Hey, if you need something to do, go for it.

If for some reason, I don't get around to doing this tomorrow (company coming, dontcha know) have a great weekend, and I will be talking to you on Monday.

Week 9 Wednesday

I would say good morning, except that it is almost 2:00 pm, so moot point.

I have decided to take it easy today since I will have to work my butt off tomorrow and Friday morning.
Company coming, well, relatives really, but I usually end up cleaning more for them than for anyone else.
The worst part of the cleaning is the 2 bathrooms, they should be self clean like an oven.  You have to love the whole indoor plumbing thing though.  After all, who wants to go outside into a stinky box when it is 10 below or 100 above.

I just printed out a job application for Wright County.  Not so much for a job there, but to get on the list for taking the test to become a government employee.  Don't hold out too much hope, the job position they are looking to fill requires a Bachelor's Degree, which I don't have.  In my experience, most social workers should be based on life experience instead of education.  Seems like the ones with all the education know so little about how to handle people and their problems, whereas the ones with life experiences have had to deal with a variety of day to day issues, ranging from child support to almost becoming homeless.  Without the knowledge of how these issues feel, how can you really help someone in that situation?  You can give them numbers and names of other people that might be able to help, what if they can't afford the gas or phone to contact these people?  How do you help them then.

On a brighter note, what a beautiful day this is turning out to be.  Wonderful warm temps, sun partially shining, and today everyone has the right to go drink green beer ir they choose to.  What could make it any better?  Oh yeah, if the beer was free!

Since this is the first time I will be sharing this blog on Twitter, please feel free to comment on anything that you agree with, disagree with or just choose to have an opinion about.  Since I probably won't know you anyway, I promise not to let any of it affect me personally.

Talk to you tomorrow.

Week 9 Tuesday

Well, not sure what to write about today.  Kind of bummed, got the yard work done yesterday, and then it goes and rains last night.  Ah, the wonders of Spring, which by the way, officially starts on Sunday.

Got the stuff I ordered today.  Shoes fit great!  I thought that I had ordered loafers, instead I got a pair of sneakers, that's ok, they fit and they are black, so I can wear them with anything.  Have them on right now to get used to them.  They just slip on which is great, this way if my feet get sore, I don't have to untie, undo or bend down to undo it, just kick them off.  Now I just have to figure out which 2 pairs of my other shoes to get rid of.  Will probably be my one pair of tennis shoes and my mocassins.  Neither of which I wear very much, so won't miss them.

There is this new thrift store in town.  Was in there last week.  Very nice, very clean, very well organized.  Usually the thrift stores are dark, dirty and just a plain mess.  So was refreshing to enter one where you could see everything.  Got some good deals, a gallon bag of socks for the little miss for $2, a pair of black patent leather mary janes for  50 cents, and a whole bunch of everyday clothes for $1.75.  Except for special occcasions, garage sales and thrift stores are the only way to shop for little ones.

I need to get back up there, there was a table lamp that I kind of glanced at and thought would work good in the bedroom.  So maybe when I get done with this, that is what I'll do.  There was also an ironing board and a china cabinet that I didn't get a chance to check out the prices on.  I am so cheap.  Not that I mind, right now it is the only way to be, and if I can get something that I really want without spending lots of money, what's so wrong with that.

Hopefully, next week, I will have some pictures to post.  Have a great day!

Week 9 Monday

No I didn't forget that I have to write today, just been so busy that this is the first chance I've gotten.

Started out with working outside.  Got the Christmas decorations down, (they were falling down on their own) and the yard cleaned up from debris.  Made 2 trips to the dumpster, 1 trip out to storage and then stopped at Casey's and the hardware store.  Had to buy a new rake and shovel.  Gotta love the new stuff!  Got all the leaves pulled away from the steps and the house so those areas can begin the drying out process, got the leaves and mud shoveled off the sidewalk, that's drying up nicely.

Had made a baked chicken last night with boiled potatoes and green beans.  So today, pulled all the chicken off the bones for sandwiches and made potato salad to go along with them.  Gotta love the left overs too!
Got the dishes rinsed and put in the dishwasher (waiting for a full load), the stove and counter top cleaned up.
Still have to do the floors, managed to track in a bunch of mud doing the yardwork.  Lots of fresh air, ain't it great?!

Had some of the windows open today, fresh air inside, what a concept.  It's amazing how ambitious you can feel just by having the snow gone, and having the sun peek out.  Tomorrow will be taking another resume out to the store on Hwy 7 and taping it to the window.  Hopefully, someone took the other one and it didn't just blow away.  Going to be very persistant on this one.

Friday, Miranda is bringing Lily down for the weekend, YEAH!  Miss the little bugger alot.  My mom is also going to be here, so she will get to spend a lot of time with the little miss.  Planning on making a turkey breast on Sunday, guess I do have to feed everyone.  Hopefully the weather co-operates and we can throw it out on the grill.  Of course that means baked potatoes to go along with it.  YUMMY!

So now you know how I spent my Monday, I hope that yours was productive also.  Talk to you on Tuesday.

Week 8 Friday

Today I am feeling just a little bit sorry for myself, so please indulge me.  I still haven't had any luck finding a job, not for lack of trying.  So I'm a little down in the dumps about that.  The older you get, the harder it is to find anything.  Now that they are doing credit checks to see if you are suitable for the position, forget it.  There are lots of reasons for bad or no credit, it shouldn't disqualify you from employment.  Simply ask me about it, I will gladly tell you the reason.  Not an excuse, but a viable reason.  Of course they want you to get it fixed, how do you do that without employment?

I am also feeling a little depressed about not seeing the grandkids for so long.  Arlen doesn't like to travel, and I prefer not to go by myself, so yes, some of it is our fault.  Doesn't change how I feel at this moment.  I had always envisioned myself being a part of the grandkids growing up years, show how much of a visionary I am.

I am also a little bit pissed off at Arlen.  For the past 2 - 3 weeks, he hasn't done a damn thing around here, except lay on the couch complaining about how much he hurts.  I understand he does hurt, but laying around all day and night isn't going to change that.  He did get all of the cat stuff out to the dumpster, whoopee!  I have been bagging and hauling the garbage all this time.  If I were to wait for him to feel good enough to do it, I would have a dumpster full all in one day.  I often wonder what I will come home to when I do find a job.
That's the only thing that really worries me.  I don't want to go back to the way it was in the other place, at some point he is just going to have to suck it up and get up and help.  Shoot, the other day I had 2 coat hooks that I wanted put up, how long does that take anyway?  Guess who ended up doing that?  Yep, me.

All right now that I have all or almost all of my venting out of the way, have a great weekend.  Talk to you on Monday.

Week8 Thursday

Before I forget, time changes this weekend.  We are so lucky that we get to lose an hour of sleep.  Anyway, don't forget to change your clocks either Saturday before you go to bed or at 2 am Sunday.  Don't want anyone to be at work or church at the wrong time.

Got some new dishes, so was packing up the old ones into sets of 4 with silverware.  If I hear of anyone having a garage sale this spring they are more than welcome to these items.  Only have a price of $2.00 on them so for anyone getting their first apartment or planning on going on to school it would be a great deal.

I got 2 sets of dishes for $14.99 each (service for 4) they were origianlly priced at $79.99.  So for less than 1/2 the cost of one set, I got both.  They are a pistachio green that goes really well with my kitchen color.  It is so nice to have a complete set again.  It's amazing what we hold on to even when pieces start breaking or chipping.  Maybe because the replacement value is so much higher than we want to pay or maybe because it is a set that we like or was a present from someone.  Whatever the reason, when you get a good buy on them I say go for it.

When getting rid of things by either selling at a garage sale, donation or throwing away, it is always the hardest to do when it was a gift.  If it was from someone that you are really close to or a family member that you love, the decision to have it gone is tough.  You don't want to hurt their feelings, and yet if you don't like it or need it or use it, why keep it.  What the other person has to realize is that once they hand it over to you, it is yours to do with what you want.  There will always be a little niggling at the back of your mind about whether you are doing the right thing.  Holding on to everything does nothing except cause clutter and confusion, mostly when you only dig it out to use it when that person shows up.  So don't worry about what the other person will think, they probably won't remember it anyway.  Just hope that if you sell it at a garage sale with other people, they don't show up, buy it again, and re-gift it to you!

Week 8 Wednesday

Finally got my butt out of bed.  Now if I just had someplace to go...sigh...

Can see patches of dirty grass through the snow that is left.  If the rain keeps up all week like they say, there shouldn't be much snow left.  Spring here we come!

Spring is such a wonderous time of year.  A time to start anew, everything coming back to life, and cold snowy days far behind and ahead of us.  I love the smell of rain in the Spring.  There is nothing that smells or feels as good.  If they could actually capture that smell instead of faking it, it would be all over my house.

Our weather and news casters are all fools.  Did you know that with all of this rain the chance for earlier flooding is greater?  Whoda thunk it.  When they report on a story on the news it would be nice if they would give a little bit more information.  The stories you want to hear about they have 2 lines worth saying and then they are off to a different one.  At least with newspapers you get a little bit more background information.  It would be nice to know why people are doing the things they are doing instead of always wondering about it.

Got some laundry going.  Usually don't do it until Friday, but what the hey, I have time today.  You never know what might come up between now and the weekend.  In my case, probably nothing, but there is always hope.  Got some bills paid also.  Good bye money, I will miss you.

Remember, just because I haven't talked to you lately, doesn't mean you aren't in my thoughts, and it also doesn't mean that I'm dead!

Week 8 Tuesday

Here I sit waiting for the time to pass.  I have already been out and about this morning.  Took a resume out to the store where I used to work, had to leave it in the door, so will see what happens, if nothing else will repeat the process next week.  Got the garbage ready to go out.  Had bought a new bedding set so took the mattress off to put on the new bed skirt, replaced the mattress, after flipping it, and made the bed.  Got a couple of coat hooks up by the back door.  Stopped at Casey's for gas and pop.  Can I please call it a day now?

Nope, still have to take out the garbage, do up some laundry, clean up the kitchen and living room.  If I don't sleep better tonight, I don't know what else to do.  Sometimes I honestly believe that sleep is over rated.  Those of you who actually sleep for 8 hours or more, lucky you.  I will trade places for one week just for the chance to sleep like that.  The last time I got 8 straight hours of sleep was before my son was born in 1979!  When they say kids will change your life, they forget to mention your sleep habits.

I keep trying to think of something wise and deep to write about.  So far no luck.  does that mean that I am not as smart as I think I am?  And that I really have nothing to contribute to anything?  Could be.  Does it bother me, nope.  People who think all the time really have too much time on their hands.  My feelings, just go for it at the moment.  So what if you screw up, at least you tried and you will always get another chance to go for it or to screw up again.

Have you ever run into a problem with another person, thought about all the things you would say to them, and then when you were confronting them, nothing came out of you mouth the way you had practiced it?  Happens to me all the time.  For the most part I don't say any of the things that I thought about because in a one on one situation you have no control over the other persons mouth or thoughts.  How can you possibly be able to say all the wise and witty things you practiced when they just don't co-operate?  So there is my conumdrum for the day.  How to control other peoples thoughts.  If you have a way of doing so, let me know.

Week 8 Monday

Heard an interesting tidbit on Saturday.  While I was at Walmart, ran into one of the guys that I used to work with at Kenzoil.  He said that he had heard that UFC (?) might be re-opening the store within the next month.  They have already taken over the other store in Green Isle.  So am planning on taking a resume out there and hoping that someone is there that I can give it to.

What nice weather we are having.  I love the warmer temps and watching the hated snow melting.  Just wish it could do it without the dampness, which my knees and back do not appreciate.  From what I understand it is supposed to be in the mid 40's all week along with more rain.  Bring it on baby!

Went shopping Saturday, managed to find lots of stuff.  Got some really nice clothes, 1/2 off at Shopko.  Laugh if you must, but they are nice.  Got a real cute pair of shoes, can't wait to wear them.  Also got the Harry Potter movie.  Was actually a little disappointed in it.  Of couse when I was trying to watch it, I was so blasted tired that it just didn't seem to be making any sense or going anywhere fast.  Will have to watch it again.  Whether or not I watch it is irrelevent.  I have all of the other movies and wanted to get it to have a complete set.

Well, guess I will quit on that note today.  Hate to use up all my brain cells in one sitting.

Week 7 Day 5

Well, here I sit.  Money in the bank to go shopping and Arlen pulling the usual stuff.  Men can be so infuriating.  Don't say one day that we are going to do something and then the next day decide not to!  UGH!

Okay, enough whining.  I guess I will be going by myself in the morning.  That''s okay too, then I don't feel like I am on a time schedule in each store.  I would like to get my hair cut, and I know he won't want to sit around for that.  Now, I just have to decide where to go.

What a beautiful day outside.  40+ out there.  Spring is finally on its way, I think and hope.  Have the one window in the bedroom open a little bit.  Fresh air is so good.  Gets to the point that a person forgets what it is like to breath it inside.  Hope it hold on for a while longer.

Had to move my car from its usual spot.  Way too much water to wade through to get in the doors.  After I moved it, of course I had to shovel a path to the other door.  Yep, I'm that lazy.  Didn't want to keep walking all the way around to the back to get in.  Plus this way, no one else can park there.  I'm also mean spirited, did I ever mention that?  I feel justified in this one, for the past 20 years we have had to fight with neighbors and landlords to just be able to park in front of our place.  Now that we have more parking, I don't feel that we should have to give up any of it just because people are lazy and don't want to walk the extra 5 steps.

Did manage to get some shopping in on line.  Ordered new underwear and some loafers.  Whoopee!  Going to check out some of the clearance spots at the stores I use on line.  I don't mind ordering clothes that way, but once in a while it is nice to try them on.

Enough rambling, talk to you all on Monday, have a great weekend, get out and enjoy it!

Week 7 Day 4

Waiting very impatiently for the tax money to show up.  Scheduled to be deposited tomorrow, we'll see.  For those of you who are waiting you can go to irs.gov and click on where's my refund, it will tell you the status and the date and day that you should expect to get it.  Don't know if it is just for e-filing or not, but give it a try.

So, we have to move our vehicles to a different spot.  Still in front of our place, but where they are now, there is so much water standing that if it were to freeze hard, we would be frozen to the ground.  Good thing we have enough parking for about 5 vehicles.  Problem is, anyone coming down here sees open spaces and deides they have the right to park in front of our place.  Spring - here comes the No Parking, Private Parking signs.  If the landlords don't like it, tough, then they should do something about it.

Got all my dishes loaded and getting washed.  Have to do the kitchen and living room floors.  Bathrooms need to be cleaned also, but hey, who but us right now sees them?!

The 20th is the Luepke Bash in Paynesville.  If the weather holds, looks like we'll be going, at least for a couple of hours.  About once every 3-4 years is more than enough.

On the 14th of this month, time changes already.  I just wish they would get rid of it all together.  What a waste of time (get it).  My body has a hard time adjusting to the changes more each year.  I don't understand why they are still doing it anyway.  There is the same amount of sun or daylight each day whether we change the clocks or not.  To tell you the truth, I would rather have it stay light longer in the evening than get light out earlier in the morning.

For those of you who enjoy horror movies, and remember the original Friday the 13th, (when it came out in the theaters) they have remade it.  They changed the whole story line, it is actually pretty good.  Nice to see a remake that doesn't follow the same script as the original.  Another horror movie that isn't so good is "In Dreams".  It stars Aidan Quinn and Annette Benning.  Very hard movie to follow, lots of stuff going on at the same time.

Well, now that my movie reviews are done, so am I.

Week 7 Day3

As you can see I missed a day.  Just didn't have anything to say.

Turned out to be interesting, Arlen had a Dr. app't so dropped him off there, went to the grocery store intending to pick up a few things and then head back to the Clinic.  However, when I got back out to my car, the dumb thing wouldn't start.  Had my brother-in-law drive me home, called my sister-in-law to go get Arlen and waited for him to get home.  Figured that once he was here, we could get his car started, go jump mine, go get a different battery and finally get my groceries home.

When he got home he informed that Jan had already set it up for JMS to go put a new battery in my car and have it delivered.  Now all I have to do is find out how much it cost so that I can pay her back.

Even after all that, I still didn't feel like sitting down in front of the computer.  There is only so much that a person can write about after all.  I figured I had better get something written today, or like any bad habit it would just continue.

So, that was my day yesterday, today is still kinda young and who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Week 7 Day 1

Just got off the phone with the IRS. Everybody's favorite people to talk to first thing on a Monday.  I was lucky and got someone who not only spoke English, but also understood it.  How odd is that now-a-days?

Long story short, we will have our money this Friday!  Finally, something to look forward to, you know what I mean, SHOPPING!

New clothes, new shoes, new food, what could be better?  And yes, I do mean it in that order.  I am so anal when it comes to things being in order.  I do need some new clothes though, at least then when I get a job interview I will have something to wear that isn't so dated.

My other jobs didn't really require any special things except for what they chose as a uniform type of dress code.  I do love clothes.  Normally I go through mine twice a year and get rid of anything that doesn't fit any longer, has stains or I just haven't worn/don't like anymore.  This year I can get rid of a bunch of slacks.  All of the ones that I have are now too big and they just don't hang right any longer.

As much as I love buying clothes, I just as much hate trying them on.  What shoes do you wear so that you know what the length should be, and when buying shoes, what socks or hosery do you wear, the kind at the beginning of the day or the end of the day when you have been on your feet all day and they are slightly swollen?

I can't aford to spend lots of money on anything.  I know they say to buy quality and it will last forever.  What happens when you spend $100-$200 on something and then all of a sudden it is out of style?  I would rather buy on sale or lesser quality and be able to go shopping for more, more often.

In case you haven't been able to tell, I am really excited about this.  Takes so little to get me excited.  Even less the older I get.  Since I just had a birthday a month ago, my excitement level is so low...warm weather will do it, a forcast without snow will do it, even getting news from the IRS will probably do it.  Well, when that news is semi in our favor.

Talk to you tomorrow.
